The Southern California wildfires have forced thousands of people from their homes and the damage left behind is devastating. Here’s how you can help those who have been impacted:

DONATE MONEY

The United Way of Greater Los Angeles – They’re partnering with United Way of Ventura County, and you can help by making a contribution to the Disaster Relief Fund. Click here to donate online or text “UWVC to 41444.”

The Red Cross – Go to RedCross.org, click “Donate Now” and then select “California Wildfires” to contribute. You can also call 1-800-RED-CROSS or text REDCROSS to 90999 to make an automatic $10 donation.

Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation - They're requesting donations to provide hydration packs for LAFD firefighters who are working to contain the fires, and say any amount of money will make a difference. Donate at supportlafd.org.

Ventura County Community Foundation – The Hill Fire / Woolsey Fire Sudden and Urgent Needs Effort Fund to support those who are impacted. Click here for information on how to contribute.

Google – Donations made with Google will be directed through the Center for Disaster Philanthropy. Click here to find out more.

The Entertainment Industry Foundation – The organization is raising money through its Fire Relief Fund, and the funds collected will support firefighters and first responders. Donations of all amounts are being accepted, but a $275 donation funds one Hydration Pack for a firefighter. Click here for details or to make a donation.

Facebook – There is a Crisis Response Page for the Woolsey Fire, which includes fundraising through GlobalGiving. Click here for more info.

Tuesday morning on Good Day LA, Blues Traveler donated $5,000 to the LA County Fire Department Foundation and encouraged viewers to match. Visit LACFDF.org to donate.

DONATE ITEMS

L.A. Fire Department - According to a Facebook post, they have been inundated with donations and don't have the room to accept them. For those who would like to donate physical goods, the office of Councilmember Bob Blumenfield (Council District 3) will be open Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. as a donation center. They are located at 19040 Vanowen St. in Reseda.

DONATE TO HELP ANIMALS

The Humane Society of Ventura County – They’re accepting animals who were evacuated from Woolsey and Hill fires, and you can make a donation to help support them. Click here to contribute on their website. You can also purchase items they need most through their Amazon Wish List

The Los Angeles County Animal Care Foundation – Donate through the Noah’s Legacy Fund to help the organization provide shelter for animals from the fires.

OTHER WAYS TO HELP

You don’t have to donate cash to make a difference. Here are other things you can do that will really make a difference:

Volunteer Apply to become a Red Cross volunteer. If you’re a trained volunteer already, you can apply to help the Humane Society of Ventura County with evacuated animals.

Adopt a pet – The L.A. County Department of Animal Care and Control asks residents to help adopt an animal at their nearest animal care center. They want to have as much space available for animals who are taken in during the emergency.

Plan for the future – Visit L.A. County’s website where you’ll find a five-step Neighborhood Action Kit to help you and your neighbors make a plan for the future.
