APD investigating suspicious death at north Austin Quality Inn Sunday
AUSTIN, Texas (FOX 7 Austin) - Austin police are investigating a suspicious death at a north Austin Quality Inn & Suites Sunday night.
A 28-year-old black man was found inside a room with the door open by Austin police at the Quality Inn & Suites in the 7900 block of Gessner Drive after someone called 911 around 8:05 p.m. to report a loud explosion and saw several people running from the sound.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:31 p.m. Detectives are working to notify next of kin.
APD says based on preliminary information, the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and that the victim appears to have known his assailants. Three black males and one black female were seen fleeing the scene and are persons of interest.
The Travis County Medical Examiner is expected to perform an autopsy and make an official ruling on cause of death Monday.
