Man accused of soliciting acquaintance to kill ex-girlfriend

A man was arrested in Travis County on accusations of soliciting an acquaintance to kill his ex-girlfriend in exchange for $10,000, police say.

Travis County Sheriff's Office says the man, Keith Cote, offered an additional $15,000 to the acquaintance if he could "watch him put a bullet in her head." The acquaintance and his wife contacted TCSO and told them about the request from Cote.

The couple assisted multiple agencies, including TCSO and the FBI, to get surveilled meetings with Cote and probable cause for an arrest warrant.

Cote has been charged with criminal solicitation to commit capital murder, which is a first degree felony. He is currently being held at the Travis County Jail on a $1,000,000 bond.
