Man shot multiple times during aggravated robbery in San Marcos

A man is recovering after an aggravated robbery and shooting at a San Marcos apartment complex.

San Marcos police said a caller reported gunshots at the Lodge apartments on Aquarena Springs Drive around 12:20 a.m. Thursday.

“I was asleep, and then around midnight, I heard three knocks on my door and I didn’t open the door, and then two minutes later some girl was screaming,” said Julie Kent who lives in the complex.

When officers arrived, a man inside one of the apartments was lying in a pool of blood while another person tried to help him. Witnesses told police there was a knock on the door before three men, two of them holding guns, entered the apartment and told everyone to get on the floor.

Then witnesses said the men demanded drugs and money from the victim before one of the suspects fired his gun. The victim was hit multiple times. He was transported to Seton Medical Center Hays in critical condition.

“I’m kinda scared for my safety. I mean, it’s scary that something could happen to me if I don’t lock my door,” Kent said.

After undergoing surgery, the victim was listed as stable. Police are still searching for the three suspects involved.

San Marcos police ask anyone with information on the shooting to call them.
