Police offer reward for two men who robbed a pawn shop using sledgehammers

The Austin Police Department announced a $4,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of three suspects involved in robbing a pawn shop in south Austin. 

According to authorities on Aug. 13th around 4 p.m., police said two men entered a Cash America Pawn located at 501 W. Ben White Blvd. while the store was open wielding sledgehammers. 

Police describe suspect one as being a male in his mid-20’s, approximately 5’9, clean shaven, wearing a red hoodie, dark pants, black shoes and gloves. 

According to police suspect one was carrying a sledgehammer and black trash bag during the robbery. 

Police describe suspect two as being a male in his mid-20’s, approximately 5’10, wearing a black mask, black hoodie, dark pants, black Nike shoes and gloves. 

Police said suspect two was also carrying a sledgehammer and black trash bag. 

Suspect three is described as being a male in his mid-20’s, wearing a black hoodie and mask said officials. 

According to police suspect three remained outside and held the door open while the two other suspects robbed the pawn shop. 

Police said the suspects threatened an employee with a sledgehammer and then broke the display case making off with five pistols and over $6,000 in jewelry. 

The suspects fled the scene in an older model red 4-door sedan possibly a Toyota said police. 

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the trade association for the firearms industry, are working together to recover the stolen firearms. 

“ATF and Austin Police Department are working together to recover these firearms quickly and apprehend those responsible,” said ATF Houston Field Division Special Agent in Charge Fred Milanowski.
