Woman rescued near Pennybacker Bridge after approximate 80 foot fall

A woman was rescued Friday morning near the Pennybacker Bridge after an approximate 80 foot fall, according to Austin-Travis County EMS.

ATCEMS says the woman was in her 30s and was transported by STAR Flight to Dell Seton Medical Center. Her injuries are serious but not expected to be life-threatening, according to ATCEMS.

Earlier, rescuers were preparing to rappel down to the woman. She was about 50 feet from the water edge when contact was made.
