Two arrested for murder of Texas State freshman
SAN MARCOS, Texas (FOX 7 Austin) - Two men have been arrested and charged with the murder of 20-year-old Aaron "Jack" Jackson Peterman, a freshman at Texas State University. 23-year-old Martin Garcia Jr. of Austin and 19-year-old James Lee Zapata Jr. of Kyle were arrested on Friday evening in Austin.
Detetctives believe that a drug-related robbery led to the shooting death of Peterman.
According to the San Marcos Police Department, Peterman had been found deceased in his apartment in the Park North Condos by a family member in the morning of Wednesday, February 13, 2019. These arrests was made with critical assistance from the Austin Police Department Violent Crimes Task Force and the Texas Rangers, according to San Marcos police. Detectives believe the investigation will be ongoing for multiple weeks since a drug-related robbery was central to this crime.
Both Garcia and Zapata Jr. have been charged with Capital Murder. Both are being held in Hays County Jail and will appear before the judge to have bond set sometime today.
