FOX 7 Discussion: Texas Secretary of State under fire

The Texas Senate nominations committee is still deciding if they should recommend Texas Secretary of State David Whitley receive a full Senate vote.

Last week, the Governor Abbott appointee was grilled about a controversial voting list his office released that claimed as many as 100,000 non-citizens had voted.

Since the controversial report was released, as many as 20,000 names on the list have turned out to be naturalized citizens.

It's prompted several lawsuits and calls for Whitley to step down.

FOX 7 Austin’s Mike Warren talked to Travis County GOP Executive Director Spencer Davis and Ed Espinoza from Progress Texas about Whitley being under fire.
