Gov. Abbott issues statement on El Paso shooting
AUSTIN, Texas (FOX 7 Austin) - Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has issued a statement on the shooting that happened near an El Paso Walmart Saturday morning.
Abbott's office also says the governor will be traveling to El Paso this afternoon.
El Paso police responded to reports of an active shooting at the Cielo Vista Mall area shortly before 11 a.m. local time and asked people to stay clear of the active scene.
El Paso Mayor Dee Margo issued a statement via Twitter, saying that El Paso police has confirmed several fatalities and multiple suspects in custody.
Walmart also issued a statement via Twitter.
