Austin Parks Foundation hosting It’s My Park Day

AUSTIN, Texas - The Austin Parks Foundation is hosting It's My Park Day on March 7.

The city-wide volunteer event has thousands of volunteers working together to improve parks and greenbelts throughout the city.

In Fall 2019, officials say they have over 3,000 participants on nearly 100 projects across Austin.

Austin Parks Foundation has also partnered with restaurants and businesses across the city so volunteers can get more when they give. If you wear your t-shirt to partner locations on March 7 you'll get the discounts and freebies. You can see the full list below:

One of those businesses is Shake Shack. FOX 7 Austin spoke to the General Manager of the South Lamar location Adam Fujawa who said there was no hesitation for them to help out because it's part of their company culture.

"We want to help Austin. We want to help Austin grow. We want to help Austin give back. We want to help Austin do everything it can," Fujawa says.

Fujawa highlighted a few of the items volunteers can get.

Many aren't able to eat meat during Lent so Adam Fujawa talks about some of the things you can eat there but also highlights items you can eat if you're not going vegetarian.
