17-year-old New Braunfels teen shoots, kills younger sister
NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas - An investigation led by the New Braunfels Police Department has determined that a 17-year-old teen shot his 16-year-old sister to death on Saturday.
On February 8, around 8:30 p.m. officers from the New Braunfels Police Department were called to the 600 block of Sumner Circle for a report of a gunshot victim.
According to police, first responders found a 16-year-old female who had suffered a critical gunshot wound from a handgun and was deceased at the scene.
Officers immediately began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The NBPD's Criminal Investigation Division and NBPD's Crime Scene technicians were called on scene to collect forensic evidence.
After several hours of investigation and interviews with witnesses, police determined that the victim's 17-year-old brother was the one who shot her.
The suspect has been taken into custody and has been transported to the Comal County Jail where he is being charged with 1st-degree felony Murder.
His bond has been set at $250,000, but the suspect remains in custody at this time.
This case remains under investigation.
NBPD has contacted officials from the Comal ISD where the victim attended school and the district is expected to release information about counselors and other resources for students and staff affected by the murder.
