Advanced screening of 'Doc' held in Austin
AUSTIN, Texas - FOX’s new show "Doc" is now airing. To build excitement, an advanced screening and Q and A session was held right here in Austin.
What is "Doc" about?
The backstory:
"Doc" tells the story of Dr. Amy Larsen, the chief of internal and family medicine at a Minneapolis hospital.
After a traumatic brain injury wipes out the last eight years of her life, Amy is forced to navigate a world she no longer recognizes, one without any memory of her patients, colleagues, or personal relationships.
Now, the team behind "Doc" gets to share it with the community.
"It's just great to share the show with a live audience and to be able to sit with people, feel when they are in suspense, when they’re upset, when they’re excited," said Hank Steinberg, Executive Producer.
The life-altering event doesn't just affect Amy, it creates a ripple effect that resets the entire hospital environment.
"It's a hospital show, there have been tons of hospital shows, so it's incredibly exhilarating and fun. There are medical mysteries, there's life and death online, and they found a way to tell a story in this hospital environment that's different from anything you’ve ever seen," said actor Scott Wolf.
The show stars actors Scott Wolf and Molly Parker.
For Wolf, he says playing this role has been one of the most complex he’s ever done.
"A character who is not a sort of mustache twirling standard cookie cutter bad guy, he's a very good person who is in a terrible situation, because he's wound up in this situation, he’s potentially betraying himself and other people he cares about, so he becomes the villain he never thought he’d be," said Wolf.

Local perspective:
It was a packed house at the advanced screening, with nearly all 150 seats taken.
Friends Patricia Slovak and Heather Trupia were excited about attending the screening together.
"I love film and movies a whole bunch, so when they sent out this new program this year, when they allow you to come and see whether there are new shows or doing a book club, they are doing things to really bring people out of their homes," said Patricia Slovak.
"Seeing it with friends is always a good thing just having a good time getting out and, of course, seeing Scott Wolf is pretty cool too," said Heather Trupia.
Wolf, Steinberg, and Executive Producer Barbie Kligman held a Q and A after attendees watched the episode.
You can catch the show on Tuesday nights on FOX.
