All lanes of I-35 in Salado now open, victim identified
SALADO, Texas - TxDOT says that all lanes of I-35 in Salado are now open. DPS has also identified the man killed in the crash as 32-year-old Clark Brandon Davis of Arlington. FOX 7's sister station, FOX 4, reports Davis leaves behind a girlfriend and seven-year-old daughter.
The busiest corridor in Central Texas came to a complete stop Thursday.
"I heard a loud bang but I didn't know what it was," a woman we spoke with told us.
Two beams came falling down crushing a truck belonging to Davis who was heading south.
The five vehicle crash in Salado sent three other people to an area hospital
"This is about an unfortunate incident where a truck driver struck an overpass," an official told FOX 7's Ann Wyatt Little.
DPS says the truck was oversized and is investigating Davis and his route.
"We know this is tying up traffic for a good part of the day."
Drivers detoured around the crash while crews worked to clear the scene. Those who call Salado home say the stretch is notorious for crashes.
"Being a major highway trucks are through here all the time. Crazy to think this could happen," a resident told us.
