DALLAS - An incoming college freshman and her parents died in a crash on their way to North Texas for move-in day.
17-year-old Andril Arvind was set to begin her freshman year at the University of Texas at Dallas this week. Now, her family and her high school band community are mourning the loss of her and her parents.
Andril was on the color guard at Rouse High School in Leander, near Austin. She graduated in May and planned to study computer science at UTD.
The crash happened last Wednesday while Andril and her parents, Padreepa Arvind and Mani Arvind, were traveling to North Texas.
DPS says a speeding driver in a Cadillac had a tire blowout on U.S. Highway 281 in Lampasas. The car then skidded into oncoming traffic and hit the Arvind family’s SUV.

Friends of the family say Andril’s 14-year-old brother stayed behind because he was starting his freshman year of high school.
A GoFundMe for the teen left without a family has raised more than $800,000.
