Andy Roddick Foundation launches Family Emergency Fund

The Andy Roddick Foundation has launched a Family Emergency Fund in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

The fund is aimed at empowering and supporting families and teachers with the greatest need in the community and to help those who will be hit the hardest.

The Family Emergency Fund will help do several things including create and provide virtual high-quality afterschool and summer learning programs. It will also put 200 tablets or laptop computers in the hands of students who would otherwise not be able to learn outside the classroom and provide gift cards to help with basic needs such as food, bills and school supplies.

The fund will also provide books in partnership with Kendra Scott.

“As we all work together to slow the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) across our community — and all school doors are locked to all students — the Andy Roddick Foundation is deepening our commitment to ensuring students’ continuous learning outside the classroom,” says Founder and Chair Andy Roddick in a news release.

“As any parent now knows, it’s hard to suddenly find yourself an at-home teacher or round-the-clock caregiver, but imagine if you also worked two or three jobs and still worried about whether or not you’d be able to put food on the table,” says Roddick. “These are circumstances our families face. No doubt, our work will be challenged as never before.”

CEO Richard Tagle adds, "We are asking our community to help the students and families struggling the most in this crisis right now.”
