Have you ever felt like you get more robocalls than anyone else? Well, you might be right.
Robocalling has become an epidemic in the U.S. and the problem is even worse for Texans.
A robocall is a phone call that is placed by a machine or automated dialing system. The dialer will often will leave a pre-recorded message sounding like a real person. The national consumer law center says Texas leads the nation in robocalls, with 3 billion calls placed.
"A lot of times these scammers will pretend to be somebody else, whether it's your bank, or another company or even the IRS. They can offer you that may sound really great but probably aren't,” said Schulz, chief industry analyst for comparecards.com
If you have not already, you can register yourself on the Do Not Call Registry.
The Federal Trade Commission says 15 million Texans have already done so.
