AUSTIN, Texas - Three people were taken to a local hospital after an apartment fire in Northeast Austin.
The Austin Fire Department says the fire was at an apartment building in the 500 block of West Longspur Boulevard.
AFD says the fire started at around 5 a.m. and it's believed it began in the second or third floor of the building.
"When the first crews were here, they found heavy fire on the outside of the apartments that was spreading to the interior. We're kind of looking at maybe that is where it started, but where everything with as much damage as there is, it will take us a while to find out the determination," Division Chief Mark Bridges said.

When firefighters arrived, they found two adults on the third floor and threw an extension ladder to help those adults out of the building.
The two were rescued, treated on scene, and then transported to a local hospital. Two others were also treated on the scene but refused transport.

The fire has been extinguished.
AFD continues to assess the damage done to the building.
Several apartments were reportedly involved in the fire.
Neighbor Martha Moya lives next to one of the burned units.
"I heard the fire truck driving in, and I opened the door to see what was going on because I knew it was around here. That's when I saw the blaze from next door. It was fully, fire everywhere. Somebody was coming upstairs to let me know, and I just ran outside. I ran out because I was scared," she said. "It was just terrible, I heard somebody screaming in Spanish. 'Help, help!' I heard something was busting. So I just ran downstairs and crossed the street."
Other neighbors lost everything, but luckily were able to escape with their kids.
"I couldn't get out any food, any clothes, because the fire was already taking over, the fire was already inside," they said in Spanish. "My family could've died, God is great, that's why I have faith in God."
