AUSTIN, Texas - The Austin Police Department is asking the public for help identifying a black female whose remains were found on November 3.
Police say a property owner was checking their fence line in the 9400 block of East U.S. 290 Highway Service Road westbound when they discovered partial skeletal remains on an adjoining property.
The size and density of the woods limited the initial search and a more thorough search of the area was conducted on November 6.
Additional remains were located and officials say they believe the woman's body had been there for several months.
The cause and circumstances of her death are still being determined.
Officials are describing the woman as follows:
- Approximately 20s-30s in age
- Approximately 4'11" to 5'4" in height (59 to 64 inches tall)
- Missing wisdom teeth and has one metal filling
- Good dental hygiene noted
Austin Police Department and the Travis County Sheriff’s Department are working this case together.
Detectives are asking anyone with information about the possible identity of this person to call Crime Stoppers at 512-472-TIPS or use the new Crime Stoppers App or email APD Homicide at homicide.apd@austintexas.gov. You may remain anonymous.
