AUSTIN, Texas - A warrant has been issued for a Favor Delivery driver who Austin police say threatened a teen with a gun during a delivery last year.
Thomas Alexander Gray, 29, has been charged with second-degree felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
According to court paperwork, the 16-year-old victim was working at the Texas Rowing Center in September when he placed an order with Favor for delivery on an upcoming break. As his break approached, he still had not received confirmation his food would be delivered on time so he used the app to message the driver.
The victim and driver communicated back and forth on the app before the teen received a message stating the driver, identified as
"KING.G" in the paperwork, was there with his food so he went to the parking lot to retrieve his order.
The teen saw a white Jeep Renegade SUV with the driver still inside, says the paperwork, and described the driver as a black male in his late 20s, approximately 5'8" to 5'10" and 170 lbs with short coarse hair, a full beard and tattoos on his arms and wearing a black tank top.
The teen walked up to the SUV and saw the driver had a black, semi-automatic pistol on his lap. According to the teen, the driver held the pistol in his hand, loaded a magazine in it and chambered a round, then began waving the gun around while pointing it in the victim's general direction and saying things like "You wouldn't like it if someone rushed you, would you?" and "You really shouldn't rush people because it might ruin their day."
The driver then put the pistol away in a red bag, handed the teen his food, and then drove away, says the paperwork.
In response to a subpoena, Favor Delivery identified the delivery person as Gray and APD obtained a Nevada driver's license photo for Gray which generally matched the description provided by the victim, says court paperwork. APD also conducted an open-source Facebook search for "King Gray" and found a person with several pictures matching the driver's license photo and a video featuring Gray and a white Jeep Renegade SUV.
Favor reached out to FOX 7 Austin and provided a statement about the driver:
