APD identifies suspect wanted for East Austin SWAT standoff

AUSTIN, Texas - The Austin Police Department has identified the suspect involved in the SWAT standoff in East Austin that lasted ten hours as 28-year-old Donald Mattox. 

The SWAT team was dispatched to the 5800 block of Techni Center Drive around 4 p.m. on Sunday, December 29. The incident stemmed from a domestic dispute at Fort Branch at Truman’s Landing, an apartment complex in East Austin, according to police.

The suspect had barricaded himself inside an apartment at Fort Branch at Truman’s Landing and was possibly armed, according to police. Around 2 a.m. Monday morning, officers were able to enter the apartment but the suspect wasn't there.

Mattox has an outstanding felony warrant for assault family violence, according to police. Capital Area Crime Stoppers are offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Mattox.
