AUSTIN, Texas - The Austin Police Department has identified the woman killed in a crash over the weekend. 34-year-old Allison Hollingshead Banks was killed in a crash along northbound I-35 on Saturday, December 7.
According to police, a white Freightliner truck towing a white Great Dane semi-trailer was broken down in the outside shoulder in the 9800 block of northbound I-35 around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 7. While parked on the shoulder, the black Ford Edge driven by Allison Hollingshead Banks, for an unknown reason, drove into the rear of the tractor-trailer.
Allison Hollingshead Banks was transported by first responders with the Austin_Travis County Emergency Medical Services to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center. She succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased on Monday, December 9.
This is Austin’s 80th fatal traffic crash of 2019, resulting in 82 fatalities this year. At this time in 2018, there were 71 fatal traffic crashes and 72 traffic fatalities.
