APD investigating allegation of sexual misconduct involving police officer
AUSTIN, Texas - The Austin Police Department is conducting a criminal investigation into an allegation of sexual misconduct involving a police officer. APD Officer Walter Dodds has been placed on restricted duty pending the outcome of the investigations.
APD's Special Investigation Unit (SIU) is conducting a criminal investigation. In addition to the criminal investigation, the APD Internal Affairs Division is conducting an internal investigation into Officer Dodds' alleged actions. The Office of Police Oversight will be involved with this internal investigation, according to APD.
The SIU has executed a DNA search warrant in the case.

Officer Dodds has been an APD officer since December of 2017 and is assigned to patrol in northeast Austin. He has been placed on restricted duty pending the outcome of the investigations, according to the Austin Police Department.

"APD takes all allegations of criminal conduct seriously," APD said in a statement. "In order to maintain the integrity of the ongoing investigations, we are unable to provide more information at this time."
