Teen killed in southeast Austin shooting identified: police

The Austin Police Department is investigating a deadly shooting in southeast Austin.

Police said on Nov. 22, around 12:37 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance call at the intersection of Deer Run Drive and Blue Dawn Trail. 

When officers arrived, they found 17-year-old Alexander Jaimes with a gunshot wound. Jaimes was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.

During the course of the investigation, it was determined that Jaimes and another suspect were in a verbal conflict. A physical altercation ensued and escalated into the suspect shooting Jaimes. 

No arrest has been made at this time, and this is an ongoing investigation. 

Police said the female suspect was known to the victim and there is no ongoing threat to the community.
