APD investigating suspicious death at Southeast Austin homeless camp
AUSTIN, Texas - A man was found dead in a Southeast Austin homeless camp early Thursday morning.
According to Austin Police, someone called 9-1-1 for a welfare check at around 12:30 in the morning.
Police said the 9-1-1 caller told dispatchers his friend was shot and was in a homeless camp on Todd Lane near East St. Elmo Road.
Officers found the man with obvious trauma to his body.
He was later pronounced dead.
Police said they could not confirm if the man had been shot or stabbed. An autopsy will determine that.
