Officers arrived at the scene and found an "obviously deceased individual with apparent trauma to their body," said Cpl. Matthew Nonweiler in a press briefing.
A resident that did not want to go on camera told FOX 7 Austin the homicide investigation is not shocking, but it is disturbing.
"This is the first time I have heard of one here. I would be surprised if there has been more. I would say that drug traffic in this area alone is probably the biggest thing that is contributing to these types of things," they said.
Detectives are investigating this as a homicide, and it is Austin's 27th of 2024.
There is no word on what led to the victim's death, but there was a large police presence in the area as officers searched for evidence.
