APD investigating shots fired on N. Lamar Blvd in North Austin

The Austin Police Department responded to reports of an active shooter on N. Lamar Boulevard in North Austin Friday afternoon.

The Austin Police Department is investigating after reports of shots fired at Marketplace Austin on N. Lamar Boulevard in North Austin.

The call came in at 1:24 p.m. for shots fired in the 10000 block of N. Lamar Blvd near the Marketplace Austin, an indoor flea market. APD arrived and cleared the building, but found no suspects.

APD says a gun was fired, but it's unclear what the motive was. No one was hurt, but APD says they came prepared for anything.

Austinites are asked to avoid the 10000 block of N. Lamar Boulevard at this time.

"You had a helicopter up above just in case there were some wounded that needed to be taken to the hospital, EMS, several ambulances, react teams to go in and pull people out if they've been injured in any way, get them out a safe distance," said APD Officer Demitri Hobbs.

APD told FOX 7 Austin that they have a rough description of possible cars that were involved and detectives were on scene trying to gather more information.

ATCEMS and Austin Fire units also responded to the scene. ATCEMS says they evaluated one person with a non-specific medical complaint and cleared the scene.
