SWAT situation in North Austin involving man with knives
AUSTIN, Texas - Austin police say an overnight SWAT situation has come to an end in North Austin.
On Wednesday at 4:27 a.m., police say they were called to a disturbance on North Plaza near Rundberg Lane.
Police say a family member called 911 to report the suspect was in an altered mental state, holding two knives, and not allowing anyone to leave.
One family member was able to get out of the apartment.
Police and mental health officers attempted to negotiate with the suspect for an hour, and then called SWAT to the scene.
Two SWAT officers made entry. Police say the suspect was combative, but was safely detained.
No injuries were reported.
