Suspect in custody following hours-long SWAT standoff in Southeast Austin
AUSTIN, Texas - A suspect is now in custody following an hours-long SWAT standoff in Southeast Austin.
Austin police said around 3 p.m., on Friday, Sept. 20, officers with the fugitive apprehension task force attempted to serve a warrant on a suspect with multiple felony warrants at an apartment complex in the 2200 block of Cromwell Circle.
While officers were attempting to serve the warrant, they were met with resistance from the suspect. This led to a SWAT call out.

The SWAT team tried to get the suspect out of the apartment, but he continued to be non-compliant. The SWAT team then used a robot to deploy chemical irritants inside.
The suspect then came out, and was taken into custody.
There is no threat to the public.
