APD: Woman dies in auto-pedestrian crash in East Austin

A woman was killed in an auto-pedestrian crash in East Austin last week.

Austin police say a black 2011 Nissan Altima was traveling south in the 1100 block of Airport Boulevard on the evening of March 27 when it struck 55-year-old Katy Lynn Johnson. She had been walking from the east curb line to the west curb line in an area not designated for foot traffic.

Johnson died at the scene.

The driver stayed on the scene, says APD.

Austin police say this is Austin’s 22nd fatal traffic crash this year, resulting in 23 fatalities. At this time next year, there were 14 traffic fatalities.
