Arrest made in homicide outside of Don Dario's Cantina restaurant
AUSTIN, Texas - Police have made an arrest in this weekend's murder at Don Dario's Cantina.
After a short pursuit Saturday night, police apprehended 38-year-old Jacques DeCarlos Garcia. He's charged with murder and evading arrest.
The Austin Police Department was called out to Don Dario's Cantina Saturday night in response to a disturbance in the parking lot.
When they arrived, they found one victim 41-year-old Manuel Trejo, who had been shot in the torso.
Bystanders told officers they had seen a blue Ford Mustang speed out of the parking lot.
That led to a chase northbound on I-35 and ended west on Highway 71, with Garcia's arrest.
At the same time, one officer remained on scene to perform CPR on Trejo.
He was taken to the hospital where he later died.
Officers tell us Don Dario's had just closed for the night so there was a long line of vehicles trying to leave the parking lot.
Trejo reportedly left his car and approached Garcia's car. That's when the incident happened.
