Firefighters injured in Austin fire OK: AFD

Four AFD firefighters were injured in a south Austin house fire; AFD says they are out of the hospital and are expected to be OK.

Four Austin firefighters were hospitalized after a roof collapsed on them during a fire attack and search in a home in South Austin.

The fire broke out at a home in the 300 block of Camperdown Elm late Monday night.

AFD says there was heavy fire when they arrived. Two were taken to the hospital at first by EMS, then the other two went to the hospital since.

AFD says all four had non-life-threatening injuries and have since been released from the hospital.

The fire has been ruled accidental. AFD says it originated in the HVAC closet and extended into the attic.

Fortunately, no one will be displaced. AFD says the home was vacant for renovations.
