AUSTIN, Texas - The Austin Independent School District Board of Trustees held a special board voting meeting today to address possible changes to the school day after winter break.
At the meeting, AISD Superintendent Stephanie Elizalde says the district is considering three options. The first is making no change and offering on-campus and remote instruction.

The second would be a transition to remote learning and going 100% remote with no on-campus instruction. Elizalde notes that Austin Public Health is not recommending going 100% remote at this time but is asking the district to look at extracurricular practices by providing testing and restricting spectators.
The third option is to close the district. That would involve extending winter break for one week offering no remote or on-campus instruction.
Elizalde said at the close of the meeting that no decision was made about the closing or going remote. She said January 5 remains the return date for now but that there will be communication made if that changes. She said remote learning will be made available.
Another item that was discussed related to matters in connection to the runoff election.
