Texas son wears hazmat suit so he can surprise his mom with a hug for Mother’s Day

The self-proclaimed momma's boy wanted to hug his mother safely despite the coronavirus this Mother's Day.

It was quite the Mother's Day surprise.

Austinite and self-professed "mama's boy" Jess Martin hadn't seen his mom since Christmas. He knew he was overdue for a hug this Mother's Day, but wanted to do so safely as his parents are both in their 70s.

So Martin, along with other family members, ordered hazmat suits and drove to their parents' ranch near Waco for the tear-jerking reunion.

"Very surreal I got out of the car and kind of blacked out," Martin said. "I ran right up to her and just wrapped my arms around her and I could see she was crying as I ran up, so of course, I started crying."

Martin says he hopes his family's story will inspire others to hug safely.
