Austin man sentenced to 25 years for attacking, robbing young woman

An Austin man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison by a Travis County jury for committing aggravated robbery on a young woman.

According to the District Attorney's office, 29-year-old Corey Davis-Grant was found guilty of attacking an 18-year-old woman and stealing her wallet. The State noted that evidence of the defendant's previous robberies were included in the trial and on February 28, and a Judge with the 299th District Court sentenced Davis-Grant to 25 years.

The attack originally occurred on August 8, 2019. The victim states that she was walking in the area near the Travis County Courthouse on Nueces when she was attacked from behind. The witness states that a man hit her and then choked her before he took her wallet and fled in his car. The victim was able to get the car's license plate and gave the information to Austin Police.
