Austin police investigating death of pedestrian on I-35

AUSTIN, Texas - The Austin Police Department is investigating the death of a pedestrian on I-35.

Police say they got a call about someone being hit on the lower deck of the interstate between Dean Keaton and Airport Boulevard at just before midnight.

First responders arrived and tried to save the person but the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the driver who hit the pedestrian stayed on scene and cooperated with investigators.

The identity of the person who died has not been released at this time.

Police continue to investigate. It's not clear if the incident was related to recent demonstrations.
