East Austin homicide is city's 40th this year; police investigating

Jessica Rivera has the latest on the city's 40th homicide this year as the investigation continue and a suspect has not been arrested.

AUSTIN, Texas - The Austin Police Department is investigating a homicide in East Austin. It's the city's 40th homicide of the year.

APD responded to a call at around 8:30 p.m. to the 6300 block of Thurgood Avenue, between Arthur Stiles Road and Boggy Creek.

When officers arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Officers attempted life-saving measures, but they were unsuccessful, and the man died at the scene.

Austin police are investigating the city's 40th homicide of the year.

There is no suspect information at this time.

APD says there is no danger to the public.
