Austin police investigating 'suspicious death' after encampment fire
AUSTIN - Austin Police are investigating a suspicious death after a man's body was found early Saturday morning.
What We Know: APD says they were called to a fire in a wooded area near 1700 block of Nelms Drive, not far from I-35 and E. William Cannon Drive.
We're told the fire was in a homeless camp between an apartment complex and a gas station.
The fire was put out, but officers found a man's body.
Austin police say they are investigating the case as a suspicious death at this time. Police say there is nothing at this point to indicate it is a homicide, but homicide detectives are taking part in the investigation.
There is no known threat to the public.
