Austin weather: Where will we see snow?

Temperatures remain freezing and we will see some precipitation but what exactly? Zack Shields has more on where snow may fall in his full forecast.

Today is transition day with the weather scene.

The clouds are rolling in and staying cold with highs in the low 40s.

Will there be snow?

Still waiting for more moisture and the Western low to arrive before the rain chances really increase on Thursday.

Winter weather alerts have been posted for North Texas but not here at home.

In Central Texas, we are still expecting more rain than ice and snow.

It's expected that it could rain all day tomorrow.

Future rain totals are trending wetter.

Keep the jacket and umbrella handy.

Severe winter weather preparations in Texas

Governor Greg Abbott is holding a news conference, scheduled at 10:30 a.m. (CT), to talk about the state's response to severe winter weather.

The governor will be joined by Texas Division of Emergency Management Chief Nim Kidd, Texas Department of Transportation Deputy Executive Director Brian Barth, Electric Reliability Council of Texas CEO Pablo Vegas, Public Utility Commission Chair Thomas Gleeson, and other state officials and emergency management personnel.

Our sister station, FOX 4 in Dallas, says snowfall predictions are 1 to 3 inches in the DFW area, with 3 to 6 inches in northern and northeastern parts of the Metroplex.

The National Weather Service has upgraded the winter storm watch to a winter storm warning.

Weather for Texas vs Ohio State Cotton Bowl game

While AT&T Stadium in Arlington has a roof, the weather could impact the roads before Friday night’s College Football Semifinal game between the University of Texas and Ohio State.

Zack Shields says if you're heading up to Dallas for the game, the best time to do it would be to go today (1/8) or wait until Friday (1/10).
