ALPINE, Texas - Big Bend Ranch State Park is set to reopen to day visitors on Thursday, April 23.

Only the front country areas at the park along FM 170 will be opening and only to day visitors. The East and West Contrabando trailheads will be open as will river put ins, but the interior of the park will remain closed.
Texas Parks & Wildlife has put in specific regulations for the public to be able to visit including:
- Wearing face coverings
- Maintaining a six-foot distance from individuals outside of their party
- Prohibiting groups larger than five
Big Bend National Park remains closed to the public, including a ban on traffic through the park.
Brewster County has also implemented a stay-at-home order until April 30. All lodging, including hotels, motels, short-term rentals, RV parks and campgrounds, are closed until then. Bars are closed until further notice and restaurants can only offer delivery or to-go.
