Body found in wheel well of United Flight from Chicago to Maui

CHICAGO - A body was found in the wheel well of a United Airlines aircraft upon its arrival at Kahului Airport on Tuesday, according to the airline.

The body was located in the landing gear compartment of a Boeing 787-10 shortly after United Flight 202 arrived from Chicago.

United Airlines confirmed the incident and is working closely with law enforcement as the investigation unfolds.

The wheel well, which can only be accessed from outside the aircraft, has raised questions about how and when the person managed to enter the compartment.

So far, no additional details about the individual or what led to the incident have been released. 

Authorities are continuing to investigate.
