Burglary at North Austin business leads to SWAT standoff

The man has barricaded himself inside the car wash and is threatening to harm himself, according to APD.

A man had barricaded himself inside a business near the intersection of Metric Boulevard and Parmer Lane.

Officers with the Austin Police Department were called to a car wash in the area in regards to a burglary. When officers arrived on scene they made contact with two men outside of the car wash. A third man was still reportedly inside the building.

The man has since barricaded himself inside the business and is threatening to harm himself, according to APD.

It is believed that the suspect is armed with a knife.

Officers have shut down Metric Boulevard, from Parmer Lane to Lamplight Village. The Austin Police Department is asking the public to avoid the area.

Pflugerville ISD sent out a tweet this morning warning parents to expect delays in that area and to take alternate routes. This incident could impact Parmer Lane Elementary School, River Oaks Elementary School, and Westview Middle School, according to the school district.
