AUSTIN, Texas - On Monday, Capital Metro will start providing service to and from the state encampment twice a day, according to a spokesperson.
The service will run daily with pickup times at 8:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. to head from the downtown stop at 5th and Shady to the encampment. The return times from the state encampment times will be at 1:45 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
The service is not free and will require regular fare, however, it will run through the end of the year and through the holidays.
Cap Metro will be back with TxDOT on Monday and Tuesday to provide transportation from clean-up sites to the encampment. This service will be free for those at the campsites that are being cleaned by TxDOT.
According to the Cap Metro spokesperson this service has seen little interest; within the five days the service has been offered, Cap Metro has only serviced four riders.
