Central Austin fire leaves one dead, one in the hospital
AUSTIN, Texas - One person is dead and another is in the hospital with serious, possibly life-threatening injuries, following a fire early Saturday morning in Central Austin.
Firefighters found a person deceased in a construction trailer just before 6 a.m.
The trailer sits on a lot on Airport Boulevard, where Greenlawn, a landscaping company that does other outdoor jobs does business.
FOX 7 Austin reached out to the company but they had no comment.
“My thoughts are with the people that it effects and it’s very sad, and it’s very scary,” said Grace McDonald, who lives down the street from the fire.
McDonald was woken up by the sound of an ambulance on the street. “I looked out the window and I saw a huge fire.” she said, adding “I didn’t expect it to be so big.”
She says the fire spread to nearby trees.
Homicide detectives and the medical examiner are investigating. More information should be released following an autopsy.
