AUSTIN, Texas - The Central Texas Food Bank has announced the dates and locations of its June drive-through emergency distributions.
On six dates, the Central Texas Food Bank will distribute free food in the Austin area to help those who are facing increased food insecurity during the COVID-19 pandemic.

At these special drive-through food distributions, attendees will receive (actual contents may vary depending on availability) one box of assorted produce, one to two gallons of milk, one protein box weighing between eight and 20pounds containing chicken or pork products, and/or an emergency box of shelf-stable items, as available.

To adhere to social distancing requirements, pickup will only be available to those with cars. No walk-ups will be allowed. Only those facing true food insecurity should attend event as resources are limited.
The food bank is also in need of volunteers to assist with these events. Anyone interested in volunteering to support these special distributions should visit the food bank’s website and click on “Volunteer” to sign up.
While it's working hard to help others, the Central Texas Food Bank is also in need of help itself. Like other food banks across the nation, the Central Texas Food Bank is facing challenges related to its supply chain.

The Central Texas Food Bank says it's having to purchase groceries at nearly ten times the normal food cost.
Officials say one of the best ways the public can help the food bank is by donating money.
