Central Texas Food Bank stepping in to help furloughed employees
AUSTIN,Texas (FOX 7 Austin) - Thousands of federal employees in Central Texas are feeling the effects of the shutdown and its jeopardizing even the most mundane things, like grocery shopping.
In response to the shutdown, the Central Texas Food Bank is setting up an emergency distribution event on Wednesday at their Met Center location. They hold distributions year round, but this one was especially set up to help furloughed employees.
“This is sort of unprecedented territory for us. We do know one thing, there are folks who need our support and we are going to do everything we can to get the resources for them,” said Mark Jackson, chief development officer.
