Christmas trees delivered to Texas State Capitol

The Texas State Capitol is getting ready for the holidays!

Some real Christmas trees were delivered by horse drawn carriage on December 2.

The trees came from the Wintergreen Christmas Tree Farm in Van Alstyne which is northeast of Dallas.

The owner of the farm, Francis Frederick, is the president of the Texas Christmas Tree Growers Association and he's the one brought trees this year.

"We have brought three Virginia Pines, seven footers, we brought two 12 foot Frasiers that come from North Carolina from Butler Farms," Frederick says. "Then we also brought a six foot Afghan Pine that goes to the Governor's Mansion and we brought two 18 inch wreaths that go to the governor's front door."

Fredericks adds that "18 inch wreaths is the size of the ring that we make them with. Overall it's right at 36 inches."

Once the trees are placed where they need to be they'll be decorated.
