Class Act: Round Rock ISD puts Stop the Bleed kits in classrooms
Each classroom in Round Rock ISD's 53 schools will have a kit along with Stop the Bleed stations throughout each campus.
ROUND ROCK, Texas - This month, Round Rock ISD began putting Stop the Bleed kits in all its classrooms.
Whether it's a mass shooting or some other traumatic event, the district wants its staff members and students to be prepared.
Each classroom in the district's 53 schools will have a kit along with Stop the Bleed stations throughout each campus. It's in response to HB 496, which passed the Texas House this past spring. It requires schools to be prepared to respond to an emergency and have bleeding control kits on campus.
The district is in the process of planning how to train all of its staff and students in grades 7-12.
All Round Rock ISD buses will be equipped with a bleeding control kit and bus drivers will also be trained on how to use them.
