Courtroom testimony focuses on Sabrina Allen's mental health

Dara Llorens walked into court a little after 9 A.M. Tuesday morning. It's up to Judge Mike Lynch to decide the punishment for kidnapping and interference with child custody charges.

A little background, Llorens pleaded guilty in December to taking her then 4-year-old daughter Sabrina to Mexico in 2002 while her ex-husband Greg Allen had primary custody. Llorens had visitation rights. 

Defense attorneys will attempt to prove Llorens took her daughter because she believed Greg was abusing her.

The two were brought back in 2014. Sabrina is 18 now and goes by the name "Fair" instead. She's living with her dad Greg now. 

When we interviewed Greg in 2014 he was aware of his daughter's feelings toward him even after he had been searching for her for years.

"She doesn't want to know about me, it's going to be a process," he said.

In a Skype testimony Tuesday, Dr. Rebecca Bailey testified her treatment of Fair right after she was brought back from Mexico mainly consisted of trying to bring her out of hyper-vigilance.  She says Dara had told Fair all her life the FBI and her dad were looking for her so they moved around Mexico quite a bit.

Greg's new wife Marianna Allen also testified. She was Greg's Spanish teacher in Mexico while he was searching for his daughter.

They eventually got married and now have kids of their own. Marianna testified things have gotten better with Fair living in the house. She and Greg now like to talk politics.

The court also heard from Fair's current therapist, Dr. Amy Eichler. She says Fair suffered from PTSD and had nightmares about when her mother was taken into custody in Mexico. But Eichler says she's making progress.

Llorens's sister Delores also took the stand and testified against her this afternoon. Saying while she was in jail, Llorens sent a letter to their mother containing her hair that she'd pulled out. And she also wrote her mother pretending to be her dead father.

Greg Allen and his family are hoping the judge will give her time in prison for this, she's facing up to 10 years, they believe if she gets out it will make things very difficult for Fair.

The sentencing will be picked up again at 9 A.M. Wednesday morning.
