Coyote chases small child in backyard
Surveillance video shows a frantic father scooping up his 4-year-old as she jumps on a table to escape a coyote chasing her in their backyard.
PORTLAND, Ore. - Dramatic home surveillance video shows the moment a bold coyote chased a little girl through her own Oregon backyard in broad daylight.
Charlie Schmidt was working in his yard on Oct. 12 while his children and a neighbor were playing outside. Surveillance footage shows his 4-year-old daughter suddenly running through the yard, calmly saying, "Dad, there’s a coyote," before jumping on a child’s picnic table to escape it.

Her frantic father screamed a few expletives as he ran to scoop up his daughter and get everyone inside.

It’s not uncommon to see coyotes in their Portland, Oregon, neighborhood, Schmidt told KGW, but it was "a little abnormal" for one to chase children.
Fortunately, no one was injured.
