2 dead in shooting in Northwest Austin, police say
The Austin Police Department is investigating two suspicious deaths in the 8700 block of Bluegrass Drive. Please avoid the area.
AUSTIN, Texas - Two people were killed in a shooting in Northwest Austin.
According to Austin-Travis County EMS, officials received a call about the shooting in the 8700 block of Bluegrass Drive around 12:38 p.m. When first responders arrived, they found two victims who were both pronounced dead at the scene.
A male victim, who is believed to be in his 60s, was found in the backyard of a residence in the area. Another male victim, also believed to be in his 60s, was found dead in the home.
The deaths are being investigated as suspicious, according to Austin police.
"We don’t believe that this is a threat to the public," Austin police detective Marcus Davis said at the scene. "We believe that this is an isolated incident between two individuals."
"Generally this is a pretty quiet and peaceful area and we don't get a lot of phone calls out in this area," Davis said. "This is fairly unusual for this particular place."
